Business and employment have their own advantages and disadvantages. Employment gives a sense of security. You won't have to worry about profit/loss but I still favor owning a business rather than being employed.
But don't get me wrong, I am no way against employment. In fact, while I am writing this blog post, I am currently employed in the biggest bank in the Philippines, ehem (and working my way for my business). Yes despite of the fact that I am employed in one of the biggest corporations in the country I still want to put up my own business.
I guess you can say that the reason is obvious. Nobody gets rich being an employee you may say. Well that's true but aside from money there is passion. If you are employed and you are passionate on your work then that's totally fine. But for me, I want to pursue my passion in business. I practically grew up in the marketplace. My parents own a store in the public market in our town. So maybe it's safe to assume that growing up selling (dried fish, feeds for swine, rice, groceries) has molded the entrepreneur in me.
I enjoy my work yes, and love the people I am working with. But I feel that there is a world outside waiting for me to conquer. I know there is a great career waiting for me in the employment world if I strive more. But I know that I can never conceal the yearning of my entrepreneur soul inside me. I want a business that I can call my own. To be able to help other people because of my business, and to be able to touch the lives of thousands of Filipinos because of my business.
