Being Your Own Boss

Have you dreamed of putting up your own business so that you can finally get rid of your boss? Do you dream of becoming your own boss? Well, being your own boss is great and awesome for a lot of reasons. But in this article I want to put this topic in a different light and learn from a different angle.

Yes being your own boss is good. In fact, that's been my dream for years. Now that I've done it I've realized some things that I want to share with my fellow entrepreneurs.

Do you hate your boss?

I've had several experiences when I hated my boss. But let me clarify, I didn't hate them "personally", I just hated them at a certain period of time - "professionally". Yes, hating your boss personally or professionally are different.

-->Hating my boss professionally means I still have respect for him as a person, after office hours I still look up to him. I respect his years of experience and wisdom, after all he didn't get to be my boss for nothing. The fact that I am the subordinate means I still have a lot of things to learn.

-->Hating my boss personally would mean I'd curse him and hate him and I feel the angst at every nerve in my body. My work is jeopardized because of that anger towards my boss.

So why do these things matter? If you want to become a business owner but you have a long history of hating a string of bosses while you are still employed, you might want to reflect on this matter. Why? In business, attitude makes the difference. If you hold grudges, you keep on pointing fingers and put all the blame on the person superior to you, in other words you don't accept responsibility of owning a mistake, that will be the kind of attitude you will  bring into your own business. Since you are used on putting the blame to your superior, in our own business you will still find other people to blame on mistakes made.

In short: If you've never learned how to respect your superior, how can you demand respect on your subordinates?

Changing an attitude requires time, and it is even impossible when a person denies that he/she has this kind of attitude. But you're different, right? :)

Have you experienced a time when you "personally" hated your boss? What did you do to overcome it?Comment below and don't forget to hit like and share if you liked this post. :)
