You've finally made the decision to quit your job and manage your own business. You just opened your own store or office. Then what?
Managing your own business can be tricky and challenging yet fulfilling. With the right mindset and attitude you can face these challenges with a brave heart. So what are these challenges that I'm talking about?
Some people think that when they put up their dream business they would finally be living their dream life. Of course you will, but this is a process. Remember that you ventured on a different path. You'll be starting from the bottom again. Knowing what's ahead of you can make you ready for the big bargain you've asked for. :)
Challenge #1: Time Management

You were used on reporting for office at 8:30 and then log out at 5:30. If you've been employed for several years you'll need to adjust. Depending on the new business venture that have put up you might be needing to wake up a earlier than usual. Or you may finally have more hours of sleep than when you were an employee.
Plan ahead before resigning from work. Ask yourself, "What will be my work schedule when I'm managing my business?"
Plan your daily itinerary or schedule. You don't have a boss or supervisor to tell you to go to work. You have to do it for yourself. You're the manager now, remember?
Challenge #2: Responsibility

One of the good things that I liked when I worked in a bank was-my work was checked by my supervisor. So any errors that I made I was able to correct. And if some problem arise, the big boss won't blame me, he'll blame my supervisor for not checking my work. Of course my supervisor will give me a lecture after that. But the good thing here is even if I was rebuked the responsibility is greater on the part of my supervisor.
In business especially a start up business, almost all responsibility falls into your lap. This is a time for you to grow up as a not just as a person but as a business person. If mistakes are made and a customer is unhappy you can explain the matter, sure. But pointing fingers i.e. not owning the responsibility is immature.
Challenge #3: Leadership

This is also related to Number 2.
If you've led a team in your corporate career then that is a plus for you. In business bossing around your employees won't do good on your business. While being nice and sweet is also not good. There are situations when you have to be firm. Other circumstances require you to be softhearted. If your running your business solo this might not be a problem for you. But don't you dream on making your business big?
Sooner or later you'll need to hire people to help you. Good leadership skills create a great team. A great team creates a successful business.
These are the only challenges of an entrepreneur that I can think of right now, can you think of anything else? Comment below and let us know. :)
